Get your body moving and those waist lines rolling to the lively sounds of the Ngoma Drum with Master Artist Andoche Loubaki in this lively and colorful Traditional Congolese Dance and Drum class. This class will introduce you to the sacred dances and celebratory rhythms of the Congo. Class begins with a warm-up with isolations and stretches to prepare the body to move. Next you will learn information about the dances in the Kongolese tradition along with associated songs. Drums used in this workshop.


You can find Cumbe at Colonel's Row lawn in front of house 405 and you can get to us by taking the Governor’s Island Ferry.

NYC Ferry 

• NYC Ferry’s South Brooklyn route serves Governors Island daily, leaving from Yankee Pier.  Click here for NYC Ferry information and schedules.  

• The South Brooklyn route recently debuted a new “Faster Connections” pilot service on weekdays from 6:15-10:15am. Several ferry times during morning rush hour have changed,  click here for the new schedule.  

• The last NYC Ferries off the Island are 5:13pm (Bay Ridge) & 5:15pm (Corlears Hook) on weekdays and 4:58pm (both directions) on weekends.
