Guest teaching artist Jessica St. Vil-Ulysse will lead class May 11, 18, & 25, 12-1:30pm.

Dunham Informed Haitian Folklore with Jessica is a vibrant high-energy dance class.  Accompanied by live drumming.   The class will start with a Dunham based endurance building warm-up,  to prepare and condition the body with isolations and strength based exercises. Dancers will then proceed to Dunham progressions that will lead to specific techniques of Haitian traditional dance.   Participants will gain a kinesthetic understanding of the movement techniques, the progression of movement, and the historical and cultural significance of these dances. Dancers will also be given techniques for approaching details and nuances of these dance forms.
