There is so much beauty in keeping tradition alive. In traditional African dance from West African countries such as Guinea and Senegal, you hear rhythms such as soli, lamban, triba and balanta. These rhythms are often danced to for celebrations and ceremonies. As time has evolved, dance has transcended into new contemporary styles. You can see the same dance moves in the newer styles -- it is called afrodance. Tradition is still alive & the gap is bridged, creating Afro fusion. For the next 10 weeks, we will learn traditional African dance steps and the latest afro dance moves from Ghana, Nigeria & South Africa. Join us and feel the joy!!

Only the in person portion of this class is a part of the Dance for Joy series.
