J Lyn Thomas
J Lyn Thomas, founder of Afrobeats Dance NYC, is a multifaceted artist whose background, notable training and extensive industry experience led her to create this entertaining and physically fulfilling dance form. J Lyn holds a BA in Dance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She moved to New York City, signed with MSA Talent Agency, and has since worked and performed with a number of high-profile artists and companies in commercial entertainment. Her work includes a print campaign for Coors Light Beer, a dance role in the movie Step Up, performing for America’s Got Talent, and also dancing for BET’s Black Girls Rock. J Lyn has worked with top choreographers such as LaurieAnn Gibson and Tanisha Scott and has danced for LL Cool J, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Drake and others.
Outside of J Lyn’s performance career, she is on faculty at Broadway Dance Center’s Children and Teen Program and she is the Director of Dance at Brooklyn Community Arts and Media High School. She also teaches workshops at dance conventions, studios and non-profit organizations like Cumbe, throughout the US and abroad.
