Dear Cumbe Family,
First, we want to say a huge THANK YOU for supporting Cumbe during this interim phase!
I am the first to admit that it’s challenging to not be in our own space. But I also know two things: African and diaspora culture is all about resilience; and ultimately, what makes our community is not the physical space but US coming together to dance and savor the rich and healing world of rhythms rooted in Africa. Because those things are true, I also know that – together – we will get through this crazy time.
Our search for a new home has turned into much more of a marathon than we had hoped, but I want to let you know that our search has been continuing at full steam. We remain committed to finding the right new home for African/diaspora dance and rhythm in Brooklyn. The minute we can report definitive news, we will let you know.
In the meantime, please keep in touch and let us know what we can be doing to make your experience in class fantastic! Hopefully, you’ve been able to make it to classes in our interim spaces. If not, I encourage you to come on out this week! You’ll be happy you did.
Finally…watch out for two special upcoming weeks:
Next week, May 4-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week
Come on out, sign a card, and show your favorite teachers some love.
And the following week, May 11-17 is Student Appreciation Week
Come on out and let us show YOU some love!
Jimena (Co-Director) and the whole Cumbe team
